I was deeply moved by the experience curated by Mishak and the Secrets Bangladesh team — an edible lecture on a rooftop right beside my grandparents’ home. As each course was served, Mishak recited a proverb, each one intricately connected to the dishes that were carefully chosen to reflect the resilience of our people during the famine, partition, and liberation. It was more than just a meal — it was a journey through memory, history, and meaning. So good to be on the receiving end of something so generous, thoughtful, and beautifully rooted in our heritage.

Very few among the privileged class, unassociated with any form of politics, take the initiative to make a difference for the people around them. Mishak Ahmed is one of these individuals in Dhaka. I remember him as a little boy driving around with me distributing cold water bottles to rickshaw pullers and day laborers during the heatwave. I believe it was 2006.
Today, I am not surprised to see him continue this spirit of building Bangladesh. From his CIAct organization (post-revolution Jul/Aug 24) to his company Secrets Bangladesh actively highlighting the rich history of Dhaka and the beauty of Bangladesh. While at the same time thinking about local skills development and employment opportunities for youth. I have witnessed him execute his ideas relentlessly. Mishak was also crucial in executing our co-ed football match promoting youth fitness and gender equality for my company O2BD. Mishak is focused and capable of seeing through any project he undertakes, and I wish him well in his future endeavors.

Weekend trip to Dhaka, and first time ever in Bangladesh! Mishak’s Secrets Bangladesh private tour was outstanding – I heartily recommend making the trip for this experience alone! We loved our boat ride along the Meghna River (one of three that form the Ganges Delta, the world’s largest river delta) and witnessed life on the river. Another Dhaka highlight last weekend was this museum (built around the villa of a Hindu merchant, dating back to 1901), where I found the people to be as photogenic as the exhibits…again, with all these discoveries thanks to Mishak.
